Eating Solids

Tayler is a big boy! Avocado was his first experience in the realm of real food! This was my choice over rice cereal because of the protein and high fat content~sooo good for my little boy. I have to admit that he tried it three nights in a row and then we stopped solids. We are still working on a formula that doesn't give him a rash...so I decided one thing at a time. Next though we will try sweet potato! On a different note, Tayler is doing well. He is learning to use his voice and coos a lot. It's really cute. He really interacts with us and has his eyes and hands on and in everything. I have to keep everything out of reach now...and sometimes I forget and he knocks it on the floor! lol. Not much else to post. Everything is going well. All is good. Here are some pictures.

Grandma Phyl do you recognize my froggy?

Four Months Old

Today was Tayler's 4 month checkup. It's hard to believe I was in the hospital 4 months ago. It's also crazy how much my life has changed. I always think to myself, what did I do before I had Tayler?! I love being his mommy and I wouldn't trade it for the world. It was a year ago, on the 23rd, that we found out we were going to have a baby and now he's here and growing like crazy! I think back to my week in the hospital often. I was in so much pain...but all I remember is my sweet little boy and the joy he brought to my life the second he was born! I was thinking about how much I love him tonight while I was rocking him to sleep. The love you have for your child is not something you can describe. It comes from deep within and is fierce in its strength! My heart breaks when he is upset and soars when he is happy. It's a crazy roller coaster!! Anyways enough babbling....here is what the doctor had to say.

Tayler weighs 12lbs 12oz. Which is only the 11th percentile...but still on track. he has finally doubled his birth weight. He is 24 inches long! With his weight being what it is, the weight/height ratio is crazy! He is super tall! He had no fever, no cold, and all of his "is he doing this" were right on track! The doctor was impressed at how strong he was and how well he stands and holds his head! The only "bad news" is that he has excema. This is not surprising, as it runs in the family. The Dr. wanted to eliminate dairy from his diet, so we switched to a soy formula. His rash or excema is a source of great stress for mommy! Daddy not so much. lol. If Tayler could talk he would say "oh mom! Just leave me alone!" Difference of boys and girls I suppose.

So the last bit of exciting news was that we can start Tayler on solids anytime! I am so excited for this. I am going to home make all his food for him. His first food will be an avocado!! Don't worry there will be lots of pictures and hopefully a video if daddy can figure out how to put one on here! I am going to wait and get him adjusted to his new formula first...so very soon!

Thanks for listening to me babble...here are some pictures!

Getting So Big

I thought that Tayler's 6 week growth spurt was big (when he outgrew his newborn clothes) but it was nothing compared to the 3 month growth spurt!!! First he increased his food by 2 ounces, wanting to eat every two and a half hours. He stopped sleeping through the night and woke us up twice to eat. (Didn't like that so much!) He outgrew all of his 0-3 month clothes and most of his 3 month outfits and some of his 3-6 months! When he's awake, he wants to play and explore and stand up! When he's sleepy, he's out! And when he is hungry he wants to eat that second! He learns something new everyday and I can barely keep up with him! He is a strong healthy little boy, who is ready to take off running!

Tayler has his 4 month checkup on Friday. So I will find out what he weighs and get the okay to start him on solid foods! I think he is ready to try it! The first thing I will give him is an avocado followed by a sweet potato....which I will make myself! No canned food for this little guy!!

Here are some new pictures!

Big enough to sit and play in Grandma Phyl and Grandpa Swede's gift!

Such a big boy! (Not interested in taking pictures!)

According to my chart he's getting long! 22 or 23 inches!
